500 Egyptian Students participate in Clean Energy Solutions through the ignitED 2025 Competition

The Professional development foundation announced the conclusion of the second edition of the ignitED competition, held this year under the theme “Empowering the Future: Clean and Renewable Energy Solutions.” The competition aims to empower Egyptian youth aged 12 to 16 to explore innovative solutions to sustainable energy challenges, with the presence of Mohamed Farouk Hafiz, Chairman of the Professional development foundation, and Dr. Mohamed Al-Aqbi, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity for Strategic Communication and Media, and official spokesperson for the ministry.

‏The competition saw outstanding participation from 500 students representing 33 schools from 9 Egyptian governorates, divided into 50 teams in the fields of robotics design, app development, and website development. Notably, this year’s edition introduced remote learning for the first time, allowing participation from students in distant governorates and raising the digital participation rate to 24%.

‏### Competition Results
‏**First:** In website design, the first place was won by Team Bimo from the Advanced Students School in Sadat, with a DIY recycling website project. The second place went to Team EcoQuest from Nermine Ismail International School, with an interactive site combining a game, chatbot, and environmental tracking tool. The third place was secured by Team Eye of the Nile from Noor International School, with an interactive platform raising awareness about clean energy.

‏**Second:** In app design and development, the first place was awarded to Team syntaxxpert from Talai’ Al-Mustaqbal School in Maadi, for a digital marketplace for renewable energy products. The second place was claimed by Team Renewables from Kayan International College, with a smart recommendation app for the best energy solutions based on geographic location. The third place was won by Team Watts Up from the Advanced Students School in Dakahlia, with an interactive awareness app for children and adults featuring a green rewards system.

‏**Third:** In robotics design and development, the first place was taken by Team Luminox from Nermine Ismail International School in El Shorouk, with a solar-powered electric car functioning as a mobile energy bank. The second place went to Team Tech Titans from Koruist College, with a smart solar system equipped with self-tracking and integrated maintenance features. The third place was secured by Team GREENTECH from New Vision Language School, with an advanced robot for monitoring soil quality and enhancing smart agriculture.

‏, stated, “We are proud of this edition of ignitED, which aims to empower youth with knowledge and skills, encouraging them to present practical and sustainable solutions in the energy sector. We believe that supporting these minds is the cornerstone for building a more sustainable economy and society.”

‏He added, “What we witnessed in terms of passion and creativity among the students confirms that Egypt has promising talents capable of leading change in technology and sustainability fields. At the Development and Growth Association, we strive to ensure that these educational initiatives serve as a real launching pad for young talents towards the job market and entrepreneurship, and we continuously seek to expand our impact to include more governorates and schools in the coming years.”

‏This competition is a continuation of the association’s successes in supporting innovation, following the previous edition titled “Destination Egypt,” which focused on promoting tourism through technology.
