Kamel Ghribi, Chairman of Italy’s San Donato Hospital Group (GSD) and Chairman of GKSD Holding Investment Group, met today in Dubai with Italian President Sergio Mattarella during the President’s official visit to the United Arab Emirates, as part of a meeting with members of the economic and financial community.
Ghribi described President Mattarella’s visit as a moment of particular importance, not only symbolically, but also for its tangible impact on strengthening bilateral relations between Italy and the UAE. He noted that Mattarella represents Italy in an exceptional manner and that his presence further reinforces the excellent ties between the two countries.
Ghribi has drawn strong interest and enthusiasm from Emirati stakeholders, both at the institutional level and through dialogue with representatives of major local and international companies. He pointed to years of growth in trade exchange and high-level mutual visits between Italy and the UAE.
He also emphasized the prominent role of Italian diplomacy, expressing his appreciation for the efforts of Italy’s Ambassador to the UAE, Lorenzo Fanara, and for the work of the Italian government, represented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Edmondo Cirielli, during the official visit.
During the visit, Ghribi took part in a dialogue session with leading figures in the Italian economic and financial system who support the internationalization of companies. Participants included Lorenzo Galanti, Director General of the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), Vittorio De Biasi, President of SIMEST, and Michele Benassi, Chief Executive Officer of SACE.
Ghribi stressed that the presence of these figures reflects Italy’s strength as an integrated system of institutions, companies, and tools that support international development.
He added that the visit of the President of the Republic and the meeting with him marked the culmination of a long journey built over many years, and represented another important step in strengthening relations between Italy and the UAE with a forward-looking perspective.
“IItaly is fortunate to have a President like Sergio Mattarella,” Ghribi said. “His moral authority, presence, and enduring leadership enhance Italy’s global standing and strengthen strategic relations based on trust, mutual respect, and a long-term vision.”
