A delegation led by Kamel Al-Ghuraybi, Chairman of the Italian San Donato Hospital Group (GSD) and Chairman of GKSD Investment Holding, visited Benghazi from 9 to 12 September at the invitation of local authorities.
During the visit, doctors, engineers, and managers toured the city’s main healthcare facilities, including Benghazi Medical Center, the new Children’s and Maternal Care Hospital, the Oncology Center, and the Marj Medical Education Center.
The city has received strong backing from Al-Ghuraybi as part of the international cooperation strategy of the San Donato Hospital Group (GSD) and GKSD to strengthen Libya’s healthcare system.
The areas of intervention include the modernisation of Benghazi Medical Center, training local staff through cooperative programs with Italy, establishing new hospitals, and developing telemedicine and remote medical consultation services.
At the conclusion of the mission, Al-Ghuraybi described the outcomes as “very encouraging”, emphasising the commitment to contribute “our expertise and vision to the development of the Libyan healthcare system, bringing the best practices developed in Italy to serve the country, ensuring health, hope, and a better future for its citizens.”
