QNB Egypt, a subsidiary of QNB Group, a leading financial institution in the Middle East and Africa, has arranged a long-term financing facility for the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) to support the establishment of a new international school campus in the Al Amreya area of Alexandria Governorate.
The project comes as part of AASTMT’s expansion into the pre-university education sector, in response to the growing demand for international education in Egypt. The new campus will offer both British and American curricula, covering the full academic journey from kindergarten through secondary school, with a capacity of approximately 3,000 students.
The bank will cover around 71% of the project’s financing requirements, which include the construction of two academic buildings accommodating 150 classrooms. AASTMT will provide laboratories, educational facilities and supporting infrastructure equipped with the latest artificial intelligence and digital transformation technologies, in line with international standards.
The financing reflects QNB Egypt’s commitment to supporting investment in strategic sectors and reinforces its role as a trusted partner for sustainable development by providing tailored financing solutions for projects with a positive impact and aligned with national development priorities.
It also underscores the success of the longstanding partnership between the two sides, which dates back to 1984, during which the bank has provided a wide range of banking and financing services, highlighting the importance of cooperation between the financial and education sectors.
Commenting on the occasion, Mohamed Badir, CEO of QNB Egypt, said: “At QNB Egypt, we focus on supporting projects that create sustainable value and contribute to the development of essential services. Through our financing solutions and strong partnerships with our clients, we continue to enable investments that support growth in priority sectors.”
For his part, Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, said: “This project represents a milestone in the Academy’s strategy to expand its educational services and strengthen its contribution to Egypt’s education sector. We highly value our relationship with QNB Egypt, which has extended for more than four decades, and appreciate the bank’s support in delivering this strategic project.”
